Lib Dem success: Council bans payday lenders websites

6 Aug 2013

As a result of a call by Liberal Democrat County Councillor Will Forster, Surrey County Council has now banned access to top payday lenders' websites from all Council computers and networks, including those in public libraries.

Cllr Forster asked the Leader of the Council to tackle the issue at the last meeting of Surrey County Council.

Cllr Will Forster said: "This is a small but significant step towards protecting residents from the irresponsible lending, sky high interest rates and possible harassment of payday lenders.

"This goes hand in hand with the recent success of my campaign to get Surrey County Council to support the SurreySave Credit Union."
