Recruitment Problems affect Youth Service

15 Jul 2004

The lack of youth workers has contributed to the failure to deliver the expected services for our young people. Added to this, Connexions, a new service for young people, after a year of operations has also failed to be a visible service.

Weak marketing and weak public relations are seen as the main factors. Youth workers themselves are lacking in information about Connexions and this has impeded its success.

Communications, or the lack of them, within the Youth Service have also added to the poor results. More training and better communications are called for by the County to improve this new service and prevent duplication.
