Cllr John Orrick, the Liberal Democrat Opposition Spokesperson for Communities on Surrey County Council, has condemned the decision by Surrey's Conservative Cabinet today to support an £8.3 million Magna Carta celebration project "signing a blank cheque".

Care home report makes ugly reading

Cllr Fiona White, the Liberal Democrat Opposition Spokesperson for Adult Social Care on Surrey County Council, has called for an urgent report to councillors on Care home top-up fees. A report by Independent Age entitled "Care home top-up fees: the secret subsidy" has rated Surrey's performance as 'ugly'.

SUCCESS: Lib Dem call for all fostered young people in Surrey to have the opportunity to remain with their carers beyond 18

Liberal Democrat County Councillor Will Forster was successful today in calling on Surrey County Council to support the campaign to persuade the Government to change the law and provide funding to ensure that all young people in foster care can stay with their foster families when they turn 18. He also called on Surrey County Council to do all it can to help young people in foster care to stay with their foster families when they turn 18.
